What Even Is Stretching?

Stretching is the way we protect our mobility and preserve our independence. It’s a great way to prepare our body for physical activity and aids and its recovery afterwards. Stretching is beneficial for improving flexibility, reducing muscle soreness, enhancing performance and is even good posture practice. stretching is perfect for any and everyone wanting to maintain a healthy life. We pair with THEE BELLE TWINS’ co-owners Alysha and Ashley, sibling stretch providers, to give us more insight on the benefits of routine stretch.

Who Should Stretch?

People of all ages genders and culture should be stretching, yes that means you too! “stretching will help with understanding your proper body mechanics” THEE BELLE TWINS informed us during our interview. “It’s vital when participating in every day physical activities. “If you regularly stretch you will start to notice your bodies conscious limits and be able to guide and teach your body how to properly extend it self when undergoing strenuous activities. The more you stretch the more you see your body is capable of much more than you think, as long as you stick to the routine.

Why Stretch?

You’ve heard it before, if you’ve ever torn a muscle lifting something, overworked yourself at the gym, or reach too far up in the cabinet, “did you stretch? “And how many more times is the answer no then yes? people always say you should stretch but what can happen if you don’t? Does or can a lack of a stretch routine have any long-term negative effects? We asked THEE BELLE TWINS and the answer is pretty insightful “[when you don’t stress regularly] the muscles become stiff and or tight which causes joint pain.” These can be long or short term aches depending on your lifestyle habits. “retaining that flexibility within your muscles and tendons [by way of stretch] will allow you to continue to move your body freely and with ease.“ stretch and Kennett times make or break your ability to move around comfortably.

How Do I Stretch?

All this information on stretching sounds fine and dandy but how do you know you’re stretching properly? Different stretch positions tend to different muscle groups so taking advantage of the proper stretch routine is important. YouTube and Pinterest have great resources on stretches to do for different aches and pains, but what if you don’t know how to stretch correctly? Or let alone where to start?

When trying to establish a good stretch routine sometimes it’s best to start with an assisted stretch. Assisted stretches are guided by stretch providers who assess your individual muscle groups and your body’s specific needs. They are intentional about the Stretch poses to incorporate within their routine to match your needs with the type of stretch that was that your body up for success. They start by “targeting the troubled areas and work on stretching the total body from there.”

When Can I Stretch?

Stretching doesn’t always have to be a long yoga session or dopey as a cool down after your workout routine. Both of those are, however, great examples of practicing stretch. Stretching after a workout helps

lessen post-workout soreness and gym pains. It jumpstarts muscle recovery and since you're already

warmed up, you may find it easier to practice your flexibility. Even allotting time in your day for a 5-10 min stretch when you first wake up is a can relieve any resting pains or tightness from the night before. Stretching in the morning is a great way to get your blood flowing and relax your muscles yo prevent cramps and more pain. The stillness can help ease your mind giving you a nice morning reboot.

Taking a few minutes out of your work day to stretch is great way to relieve the body of stress, calm your mind, and give you a quick energy boost. We hold a lot of our stress in our muscles and in our body. Stretching releases that build up stress that could be seemingly weighing you down. It can also assist in correcting posture. So, if you're a sloucher like me, it's good to stretch often throughout the day.
